How does your research contribute to a better world?

"My conviction that all we have is each other is what led me to health science. There is an urgent need to develop and evaluate strategies to improve health for all, not only as a slogan but operationally.

Partaking in generating evidence on interventions that improve health outcomes must be bliss! However, many evidence-based interventions are not used in practice, and there is limited capacity in health systems to handle the rapid introduction of new evidence-based methods.

My research concerns how to build capacity in health systems, mainly in low- and middle-income countries, to implement what others have found to have a positive effect on health into routine care, and to increase the understanding of why the effectiveness of interventions is limited - or non-existent - when implemented in a real-world setting. In short, my research contributes so that the evidence-based and effective interventions developed by other researchers are implemented in practice."
